How to Set Up an RSS Feed in WordPress

How to Set Up an RSS Feed in WordPress (3 Steps)

Step 1: FeedBurner can help you find your RSS feed(s).

One or more RSS feeds will be installed by default on your WordPress site. As a result, the first thing you should do is look up the URLs for those feeds. Using Google’s FeedBurner tool, this is simple.

Don’t be deceived by its vintage appearance. FeedBurner is an excellent tool for the job at hand. Simply type your domain name into the appropriate section and click Next. A results screen will appear, including all of the feeds associated with your site.

You only need to take note of the URLs of any feeds that display here at this time. After that, you’re free to go on to the next job.

Step 2: Redirect Your Default Feed Within WordPress

You’ll need to inform WordPress to redirect your feed to FeedBurner after you have at least one RSS feed URL. A specific plugin, such as RSS Redirect & FeedBurner Alternative, can easily accomplish this.

After you’ve installed and activated the plugin, go to the RSS Redirect panel in WordPress and click the button that says “Click here to activate redirect.”

In a matter of seconds, your feed will be redirected. After that, all you have to do is provide a mechanism for your visitors to read your feed.

You’ll also see that this screen has different options for various feeds, as well as a custom feed field. If the plugin fails to effectively redirect your feed, then adding it here should suffice.

Step 3: Display Your Feed on Your Site’s Front End

Finally, to make it easier for people to access your RSS feed, add a clickable symbol to the front end of your site. This is straightforward to accomplish, especially if a widget is used.

To do so, go to your WordPress dashboard’s Appearance > Widgets section and look for the RSS option. Simply drag it to the widget place you choose (such as a sidebar or bottom) and look at the options.

The choices are rather self-explanatory. Your RSS feed will be displayed on the front end of your site at the given position once you’ve saved any modifications!
